Steve Wallen |
Steve Wallen is the owner as well as an
instructor at Steve Wallen Swim School, Inc.. He graduated from Chico
State with a degree in Physical Education. While at Chico State,
Steve competed on the Men's Swim Team that won back to back
National Championships as well as set a National Record in the 800
freestyle relay. He is also a member of the
Sacramento Chamber of Commerce Hall of Fame.
Steve Wallen has been involved in the sport of swimming
for over 32 years. He has taught lessons in his Folsom home for
the past eighteen years, and has now moved on to expand his swim
school to better serve his customers. Steve has always dreamed of
owning his own swim school where he can demonstrate his passion
and exceptional talent for teaching people of all ages and
abilities to swim. Steve and his wife Susy have raised four
children and currently reside in El Dorado Hills with their yellow lab

Kaleb Wallen |
Kaleb Wallen is the general manager as well
as an instructor at Steve Wallen Swim School, Inc.. He graduated from
the University of California, Davis where he excelled in both
academics and athletics. Kaleb studied Exercise Biology with an
emphasis in Physiology as well as competed on the UC Davis Men's
Swim Team for four years. He has now followed in his father's
footsteps and is doing what he knows and loves. Kaleb has worked
for Steve Wallen Swim School, Inc. for the past eight years, and enjoys
working with all ages and skill levels.
Kaleb Wallen left his mark at Folsom High School and the University
of California, Davis where they have both named awards in his
honor. Folsom High School now honors an athlete each year with the
"Kaleb Wallen Sportsmanship Award," and the University of
California, Davis awards an annual "Wally's Award" which is given
to the swimmer who has shown the greatest amount of improvement
over their

Kelsey |
Kelsey is currently a Junior at University of California, San Diego, and has been
working at Steve Wallen Swim School, Inc. for more than seven
years. She first learned to swim with Mr. Steve in his backyard
pool when she was four years old and has been around the sport
of swimming ever since.
Kelsey has participated on various swim teams since first
learning to swim, and has been very dedicated to the sport. She
is now teaching lessons part-time at Steve Wallen Swim School,
Inc. and enjoys contributing to the development of students of
all ages and abilities. |

Cristina S. |
Cristina S.
recently graduated from Sacramento State
University with a degree in journalism. She
has taught swim lessons for Steve Wallen Swim School, Inc. for
the past seven years and has also served as a coach
for various swim teams.
Christina is an avid swimmer and runner and enjoys competing in
triathlons with her younger sister and friends. In her spare
time Christina also works as a nanny, reads books, attends
festivals, and hangs out with her friends. |

Mel |
Mel moved to the United
States in 2008 from her hometown of Ulm, Germany. She first learned to
swim at the age three through the German Lifesaving Association.
She then went on to swim competitively for twelve years until
making the decision to pursue a career in Aquatics.
Over the last eleven years she has spent time as
an Aquatics Director, Lifeguard, Swim Instructor, Water
Gymnastics Instructor, Pool Party Coordinator and a Mass Sport
Host. Mel is an avid fan of the water and enjoys working with
students of all ages. In her spare time she enjoys snowboarding,
mountain biking and spending time with her husband Dennis in
their new home country. |

Ashley |
Ashley recently graduated from the
University of California, Davis with a degree in Sociology and
Communications. While at UC Davis, Ashley enjoyed a stellar four
year career as a student athlete while setting a team record in
100 breaststroke and the 2nd fastest time in the 200
breaststroke. This past season Ashley served as the team
captain and helped lead her team to a 3rd place finish at the
Big West Championships.
Ashley began swimming competitively at the age of
six, and has been at it ever since. She has been working as a
lifeguard/swim instructor for the past seven years. Her
hobbies include wakeboarding, snow skiing, and living an active
lifestyle. She is extremely passionate about teaching swim
lessons and enjoys working with all levels of students. |

Nick |
Nick is currently a sophomore at Folsom Lake Community College. He attended Oak Ridge High School where he competed on the swimming, wrestling, and
water polo teams.
Nick has taught swim lessons for the past 3 years
and enjoys working with all ages of students. He is very
enthusiastic and outgoing about teaching and would love to work
with you. |

Amberle |
Amberle is currently a sophomore at Folsom Lake Community College with plans to attend San Francisco State in Fall 2012. She has been swimming all her life and has been teaching swim lessons at SWSS
for over three years.
Amberle enjoys working with students of all ages and abilities. Aside from swimming she is also a black belt in karate, an avid reader, and is working toward a career
as a photographer. |

Elizabeth |
Elizabeth has been involved in the swimming community for over 20 years working at various swim schools and local YMCA's. She has worked at Steve Wallen Swim School, Inc. for more than four years. Elizabeth enjoys working with students
of all ages and abilities. She also specializes in working with students of "special needs".
Elizabeth and her husband Tom have raised two children and currently reside in El Dorado Hills with their dog Shakespeare.

Laura graduated from Southern Adventist University in Chattanooga, Tennessee with a B.S. degree in Biology emphasizing public relations and education.
She grew up in Chicago, Illinois were she competed on a local year round swim team named Homewood Flossmore Swim Club from a very young age.
Laura has been teaching swim lessons for over five years and enjoys working with students of all ages and abilities. She currently resides in the Sacramento Area with her husband and their dog. In her spare time she enjoys spending time at the dog park, reading, watching movies, and following the Chicago White Sox Baseball Team. |

Ariel |
Ariel is currently a junior at UCLA where she is studying to pursue a career in medicine.
She first started swimming at the age of seven, and has been competing on various swim teams such as the Sierra Marlins and Folsom High School ever since.
Ariel has been working at SWSS for the past three years and loves
working with all types of students. In her spare time she enjoys participating in triathlons, working out, and spending time with her friends. |

Julia L. is currently a senior at Oak Ridge High School where she competes on both the swimming and water polo teams. She also spends time working
with the Taz Swim Team where she is both a coach and swimmer. In the Fall she plans to attend Colorado University.

Cristina M. |
Cristina M. graduated from San Jose State University with a Bachelors Degree in Fine Arts and Photography. Growing up in San Jose she
competed on both swimming and water polo teams in high school, as well as the Santa Clara Aquamaids Synchronized Swimming Team for 6 years. She was once on the Nickelodeon show "Figure It Out" with her synchronized swim team. She then went on to
participate in college for the University of Santa Cruz Water Polo Team.
Cristina has been teaching swim lessons for over 10 years including SWSS for the past 3 years. Cristina is bilingual, speaking both English and Spanish. Her hobbies include art, photography, and gardening to name a few.
Her life long dream is to own her own farm someday.
